This Is Just To Say

Tomorrow after their test on Lewis Carroll, my students will be reading three poems by William Carlos Williams: "This Is Just To Say", "The Locust Tree in Flower", and "Between Walls". I usually write poems with the kids, so tonight I am going to share with you my poem modeled after "This Is Just To Say".

Dear Husband

I told you

I had no papers

to grade

tonight

but if

you saw my desk

you just might

find watercolor paintings

of haiku
